How to Wager
Place your bet by visiting a teller, or using a self-serve terminal.
Place a Bet
1. State the NAME of the TRACK
(Aqueduct, Churchill Downs, Prairie Meadows, etc.)
2. State the RACE NUMBER
3. State the AMOUNT of WAGER
4. State the TYPE of BET
(Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta, etc.)
5. State the NUMBER of the HORSE
Example: “Aqueduct, 2nd race, $20 to WIN on No. 6"
Single Horse Bets
Win:
Your horse must finish 1st; payoff determined by the win odds.
Place:
Your horse must finish 1st or 2nd; payoffs better than to show.
Show:
Your horse must finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd; modest payoffs.
